Everyday around 400-500 people cross the bridge deck in front of the house of Mr. Abdul Huq Talukder, a resident of Ward 3, Khaulia Union under Morrelganj Upazila of Bagerhat District. Not only is this the bridge deck used by farmers to carry their harvested vegetables but also by students of three primary schools to travel every day. Unfortunately, this bridge deck was unsuitable to be used for several months and needed to be repaired.

This caught the attention of Khaulia UDMC, the members of which then, during a meeting, requested the Secretary and the UP Chairman to take necessary action to rebuild this bridge deck. Giving the matter importance, under the ‘Bridge/Culvert Construction Programme 2013-2014’ by the Department of Disaster Management, the bridge deck of 29 feet was rebuilt. The title of the project was ‘The bridge deck in front of the house of Abdul Huq in Amtoli’. A total of 20,03, 700 BDT was spent on the bridge deck. This has made the lives of the locals easy and less vulnerable.
